Enjoying the benefits of a beautiful, symmetrical smile no longer requires living with uncomfortable metal braces and the often uncomfortable treatments associated with the use of metal brackets and wires. Invisible braces have removed many of those undesirable hassles.

Once you become a member of our ALIGNERCO family, you’ll enjoy convenient treatments that require minimal lifestyle changes. To help you prepare for the process of living with clear braces, we offer this overview.

Say Goodbye to Uncomfortable and Inconvenient Treatments

If you opt for traditional metal braces, those treatments will come with strict dietary and lifestyle requirements. Traditional adult braces require an orthodontist to temporarily cement metal wires and brackets to your teeth.

Here are a few of the common complaints associated with metal braces.

Long Adjustment Periods

Adjusting to metal braces can take weeks. Many patients never fully adjust to the presence of all the bulky attachments that can sometimes cause speech impediments.

Dietary Restrictions

While metal braces are less bulky than they were decades ago, the treatments still require strict dietary restrictions. Topping any list of forbidden foods are sweets and any items that are sticky. Caramel and other types of candy stick to the wires and brackets used with traditional braces.

Sugary foods can be hard to remove from braces. Anything with high levels of sugar can also increase the chances of tooth decay will occur. For these reasons, you can expect to be told to abstain from sugary treats while undergoing orthodontic treatment using traditional metal braces.

Complicated Cleaning Routines

Braces require extra care and time to clean. Not every part of your teeth can be reached with a toothbrush when you have metal braces.

To effectively clean your teeth and braces, you’ll need to use a floss threader. Your dentist will likely advise you to brush more than twice a day just to be safe. Any food particles that aren’t removed on a regular basis can lead to gum disease or cavities.

Uncomfortable Wire Tightenings

Wire tightenings are probably the most dreaded part of metal braces treatments. Archwires exert pressure on teeth and slowly move them into better alignment.

In the hours and days following wire tightenings, the teeth and supporting jawbone can become very sore. Some patients even describe the process as very uncomfortable or even painful. ALIGNERCO’s clear braces move teeth more gradually and evenly, meaning our customers can forgo uncomfortable wire tightenings.

Living with Invisible Braces

When you start ALIGNERCO treatments, you become part of the ALIGNERCO family. Congrats! You’re on your way to a more beautiful smile.

Using ALIGNERCO’s braces is simple and easy. Unlike metal braces, you won’t have to make significant lifestyle changes during your treatment period.

ALIGNERCO Basics

Once you complete our impression kit and mail back the molds, you will receive multiple sets of clear aligners along with basic instructions on how to complete the treatment. Since treatments are planned out in advance, you’ll need to start right away.

First, ensure that your teeth are relatively clean. If you haven’t brushed that day, go ahead and brush your teeth. If you recently ate, make sure to rinse your mouth out with water or mouthwash so you don’t trap food particles in your new trays.

Once your teeth are clean, put one tray over your teeth. As you gently press the invisible braces over your teeth, the aligners will hold themselves in place.

You may notice that certain teeth experience gentle pressure. This is perfectly natural. You can avoid any momentary discomfort by putting on your aligners before going to sleep.

22 Hour Rule

Like Invisalign braces, you will need to keep your braces in for 22 hours a day. This allows your braces adequate time to perform the necessary tooth movements. If you forget to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day or longer, it could result in an extended treatment timeline.

If you opt for our NightOnly Clear Aligners, you will only have to wear your trays for eight hours a day.

Cleaning and Maintaining Your Braces

Cleaning your Alignerco braces is easy. Simply use warm (not hot) water to brush your braces twice a day. The best time to do this is when you brush your teeth. You also want to make sure that your teeth and aligners are clean before you go to sleep.

Avoid letting your invisible braces come into contact with hot water. High temperatures can distort and damage the advanced materials that are used to fabricate ALIGNERCO aligners.

You don’t need to use toothpaste to clean your braces. Some customers find that denture cleaning solutions do a great job of removing buildup.

When Can I Remove My Braces?

One benefit of invisible braces is the ability to remove the aligners whenever you need to. Common situations that may require the removal of your braces include:

  • Preparing to give a big speech
  • Taking selfies
  • Anytime you are eating or snacking

Just remember to rinse your mouth out or brush your teeth before putting your ALIGNERCO braces back on. Storing your aligners in a mouthguard container can protect your braces and prevent them from becoming lost.
